METTLER TOLEDO Product Inspection Group introduces the next generation of its demonstration bus. By bringing product inspection technologies directly to food and pharmaceutical facilities across the United States and Canada, this mobile facility gives processors and packers the opportunity to see a wide range of solutions in person, with many systems available for testing using their own products. The demo bus helps teams evaluate options more confidently and make informed purchase decisions without the time and cost associated with travel.
“Equipment can look very different in practice than it does in a brochure or video,” said Melanie Poole, Marketing Programs Manager at METTLER TOLEDO Product Inspection. “Manufacturers need to understand which quality control approaches, such as X-ray or metal detection, best fit their specific goals and application. The demo bus functions like a rolling trade show, allowing production, quality and engineering teams to see performance and results firsthand.”
The new 54-foot demo bus features a redesigned interior with increased ceiling height and an expandable side section to create a more open, comfortable environment for live demonstrations and technical discussions. It carries a refreshed lineup of popular systems from METTLER TOLEDO’s current product portfolio.
Among the technologies on board are METTLER TOLEDO’s combination systems, which integrate multiple inspection functions into a single, space-efficient unit. On display are the CV35 combination checkweigher and vision system and the CM33 combination checkweigher and metal detector, which highlight the flexibility of combination configurations to support different applications, packaging formats and budget requirements.

The demo bus also features the X52 X-ray inspection system, which delivers advanced detection capabilities at a cost-effective price point. The system’s proprietary software allows operators to seamlessly transition between single-energy, dual-energy or a combination of both modes, supporting optimized performance across a range of products and applications.
Several metal detectors are on board, including the Profile Advantage GC metal detector for challenging applications, the advanced M33R metal detector for high sensitivity applications, the Profile Advantage pipeline metal detector for liquids and slurries and a T Series throat metal detector equipped with the ATS automatic test system for vertical packaging lines.
For pharmaceutical applications, the demo bus showcases the specialized Tablex-PRO metal detector for ultra-high sensitivity inspection of bulk tablets and capsules. The system features failsafe reject mechanisms and enhanced resistance to external noise and vibration.
Completing the lineup is the V31 vision system, which can inspect products for color and shape consistency, as well as inspect packaged items to verify label presence and readability and confirm the presence of tab closures.
All systems on board are connected to METTLER TOLEDO’s ProdX™ data management software. By enabling customers to remotely monitor equipment and easily collect, save, search and share data, ProdX helps protect food safety, improve production efficiencies and maintain regulatory compliance.
